Control Changes


"Control Change" is one of the eight "families" of MIDI Commands.

Within this ONE family, there are 128 different CONTROLLERS. Not all are used. Some are used A LOT. Here are the most common ones and consequently, the ones we will use in this class. The Controller Numbers are given in both Hexadecimal and Decimal:

MODULATION ($01; #01)
VOLUME ($07; #07)
PAN ($0A; #10)
SUSTAIN PEDAL ($40; #64)
REVERB ($5B; #90)
ALL CONTROLLERS OFF ($79; #121)
ALL NOTES OFF ($7B; #123)
